Small Business Finance Seminar

I recently conducted a seminar to a group of 12 women who were in various stages of launching their own business.  The topic of the seminar was Finances and how important it is to start off on the right foot.  Although I was extremely nervous at the beginning, (I’m sure my voice was shaking as I introduced myself), by the time I was on the second slide of my presentation, I felt much better.  The main reason for that change was because I could relate to all of these women so well.  I remember feeling exactly the same way as they all did when I started AIS 10 years ago. Is this the right decision?  What am I getting myself into?  Can I even do this? Where do I start?

I found that after interacting with these amazing women after only 10 minutes, I became less focused on my presentation and more on trying to share my experiences with these women so that they didn’t make the same mistakes I did.  To hopefully give them a better understanding of the finances of their business and the importance of the bookkeeping side, so that they could all succeed.

It was a wonderful learning experience for me, and I hope that the women were able to get some useful information as well.

I also wanted to say thank you very much to Anne Day, the founder of Company of Women, for organizing the event, and allowing me to participate.
