Revival of the AIS Bookkeeping Blog

NewBlogReadHereHi everyone,
It’s been a long time coming, but our blog is being revived.  Like most business owners, we make too many commitments, start too many new projects and run out of time.  Invariably things get postponed, or fall by the wayside, not because we don’t feel that they are important, but because we’ve been unable to fit more than 168 hours into a 7 day week.  We eat, sleep and breathe our businesses, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and there is always something to do.
And so this has happened with the AIS Solutions Business Blog….
I sat down last week to take a look at our website to see if our content was still relevant, and to ensure that it was accurately reflecting how our business works.  I clicked on the blog link and started scrolling for my last post.  Needless to say, I was stunned to realize that the last post was April 1, 2011!  Had a 15 months passed since I wrote my last post?  Where had the year gone?  It certainly didn’t seem like it was such a long time back, but apparently it was.

The last year has certainly been a series of changes for AIS Solutions.  As most business owner’s know, your business grows and evolves as your kids do.  My daughter wasn’t yet born when I started this company, she turned 12 in June, and although she is still recognizable as the baby I knew in 2000, there is so much that has changed.  Such is the same with AIS.  At the start, we did everything that related to finance – bookkeeping, accounting, tax, incorporation, business planning, QuickBooks training, Simply Accounting training, PC Law, Business Visions, on-site bookkeeping, off-site bookkeeping.  The list was endless….You name it, and we did it.  This last year, we’ve really tried to identify our core values, our core services and what we excelled at in our list of services.  It’s certainly a tough exercise to accomplish though.  I must admit to give up service offerings is like saying I have too much money, so I don’t need to do this anymore. But if I’ve learned anything over the last year, is that you are always better to offer a few services and be the best, rather than offer a multitude of services at mediocrity.
Our new list of services is much more tailored, much more focused and more than anything, has allowed us to provide a completely different level of service in these areas. And isn’t that what it is all about at the end of the day – the end product or service?
So I’m back, a little over a year later, a little older, a few more silver hairs J, but a lot wiser.  This blog will hopefully also have some more focus than it did when we launched it 18 months ago, and be more useful as a resource for business owners – hence we are also looking for a new name.  I’m open to suggestions, as creativity is not usually the strength of accountants 🙂  I’ve started a post on our Facebook page looking for help, so if you have a fabulous name for us, please let us know!
I can’t promise to write a post weekly, but I can promise that it won’t be another 15 months before you hear from me again!
